COLOURS & TEXTURES, WHITSTABLE

The brief for this space was to design planting for the 0.5m wide border that would soften the deck area, instill a sense of calm (as the deck is to be used for yoga and exercise classes as well as for dining), would introduce colour, provide some privacy for most of the year, and finally should include an olive tree if possible.

This has been achieved by overfilling the border this year - and sowing annual seeds to fill first year gaps. Once the plants get established and fill out, we will incorporate another border next year which will double the size of the planting area. Plants will then be moved to fill the space, adding colour and further developing the immersive quality of the garden.
